It’s a Raid!
CAMP SNYDER MAINTENANCE RAID, SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 2018
Hey, folks, we have a project that can’t wait for our regularly-scheduled monthly service days. Some of the Camp Snyder tent platforms have been damaged since last summer. We need to get them in shape so that tents can be set up in April. So, we are converging on Camp Snyder this Saturday, March 10, with hammers, saws, and battery-powered drivers to get a start on repairs.
Our next regularly scheduled Volunteer Service Day is Sunday, March 18!
If you have an hour or two to spare, come on out for some of the most satisfying fun a Scouter can have. If you know someone who is handy, bring ‘em with you. But heck, if you have two bad knees, or one arm in a sling and the other with an IV in it, and all you can do is sit in the shade and offer moral support, well, we can also use some good conversation, and someone to say, “You missed a spot!”
And yes, we have service projects for Scouts! Just call Dan Kurtenbach at 703-802-0613 with your unit number, how many youth and adults will be doing the service project, and good contact information (including a mobile phone number for an adult who will be there for the project). We can also arrange for unit projects on some other weekends, including Saturdays.
ARRIVAL WINDOW: 10:00 AM TO 1:00 PM. Give me a call at 703-802-0613 when you arrive. Come any time during the arrival window and someone will be there, and if you arrive at 12:59 PM, we’ll have at least an hour’s work for you. If you’d like to come earlier or later, please call me before you leave to see if someone will be there.
Rules for Volunteer Service Days and Maintenance Raids: (1) Safety first! (2) Come when you can (within the designated time window)! (3) Don’t plan to spend the whole time (unless you love this stuff) – we all have plenty of things to do on the weekend! Leave while it is still fun and before you get in trouble with your significant other. (4) Enjoy using your time and skills to benefit kids. (5) Enjoy the company of other great Scouters. (6) Sign in and sign out so we can track service days and so we know who to thank.
